Alyssa Chatam

Alyssa, a Buffalo native, is pursuing a double major in Accounting and Accounting Information Systems at Canisius College. Throughout her time at Canisius, Alyssa has been extremely involved on and off campus. Recently chosen as the president of the Canisius Art Club, Alyssa also serves as the graduate advisor to several student organizations, supporting campus life with energy and dedication.

As an honors student and consistent dean’s list recipient, Alyssa has intellectual curiosity,
most notably by researching the growing role and ethical concerns of artificial intelligence within the accounting industry.

Off campus, Alyssa has always been involved in the community. At age 18, she completed a volunteer project with the 716 Little Free Pantry as an International Baccalaureate Student in Buffalo. Since then, she has continued to volunteer in other opportunities surrounding the resources at Canisius, such as the VITA Program and local pantries, and within the Sheridan Park Volunteer Fire Company. Having witnessed the resources available in Buffalo, Alyssa aspires to improve her community and create a more equitable system of opportunity for all. She is inspired by the resilience of others and is committed to giving back through time and service.

After her undergraduate studies, she plans to earn her Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting to use her skills to make a meaningful difference in the profession and her community.
