Dakari Sawyers is a rising senior at Canisius University set to graduate this upcoming may as a finance major. Once he graduates, he plans to get his MBA with a concentration in equity analysis to be equipped for a career in wealth management to not only educate but to instill practices within marginalized communities to develop wealth for themselves and pass it on in their families.

Since his freshman year of college Dakari has held several paid internship experiences that have given him the necessary background to be successful in work environments. During the summer of 2022 and 2023 he interned with M&T in their mortgage sector of product and audit to gain an understanding of the industry and how customers are not only impacted but can also be prepared for the steps through the process.

A formative experience that Dakari undertook during his junior year was a year of service as part of the AmeriCorps Vista Program at City Hall. As a vista on the project, he is helping create a Financial Empowerment Center to offer resources, workshops, and one-on-one support to help individuals manage their finances, build credit, and achieve their financial goals.
