Marissa, also known by her nickname Mars, is a biology major on the pre-medical track. Expected to graduate from Canisius in May of 2016, Marissa has been involved with many clubs and organizations on campus. She is an active member of the Society of Pre-Health Professionals, an organization which aims to build a network of students interested in joining health professions after graduation. Additionally, she is a member of the Pre-Student Osteopathic Association (Pre-SOMA), Donate Life Club, and Cooking Club. Off campus, Marissa works as a wedding consultant at David’s Bridal, and volunteers regularly at events which are sponsored by the on- campus organizations which she is a part of. Marissa hopes to spend a year volunteering in the medical field through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps between the culmination of her undergraduate studies and medical school. She hopes to attend an osteopathic medical school with goals of one day becoming a radiation oncologist and creating programs to focus on cancer prevention and naturopathic wellness management.
