Matthew Austin, a native of Amherst, NY, is pursuing a Master of Urban Planning with a focus in Geographic Information Systems in spring 2015. Previously, Matthew attended SUNY Oneonta where he graduated with a degree in Business Economics and Accounting and was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. Matthew’s career interests include sustainability, land use planning, education, and community development. He is a lead instructor for the UB Center for Urban Studies’ “Community as Classroom” program, where he assists middle school students who are participating in National Engineers Week and the Future Cities Competition. Matthew also volunteers at the Western New York Land Conservancy. In his free time, he enjoys playing hockey, golf, and capoeira.
