Mirka Arevalo

Mirka Arevalo, born and raised for most of her life in Queens, New York, has obtained a bachelor’s degree in aerospace and mechanical engineering and a master’s in engineering management. She is currently in the first year of her MBA program.
Throughout her time at UB, Mirka has assumed various leadership roles. She is the lead venture coach at UB’s Startup & Innovation Collaboratory powered by Blackstone LaunchPad, where she mentors students one-on-one, guiding them through their entrepreneurial journey and contributing to the vibrant student entrepreneurial ecosystem. In her MBA program, she serves as the public relations director for the Graduate Management Association and engages in consulting work with the UB MBA Consulting Group. Beyond her academic and professional endeavors, she supports the development of HIVE, a student social platform designed to centralize and streamline the discovery of events, clubs, and people on campus.
Previously, Mirka has contributed to the economic growth of our region through her work with Invest Buffalo Niagara and has supported the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences’ outreach efforts. She has mentored middle and high school students, led STEM programs for local, predominantly underserved K-12 students, and served as a residential advisor with UB Campus Living. Ultimately, Mirka aims to leverage her diverse experiences to start her own startup.
