Parveen Attai
Parveen Attai is an ethnic Hazara from Afghanistan. She was raised in Buffalo and Williamsville, and Western New York has become a meaningful part of her identity. Parveen stayed in the region for higher education and holds a BA in Psychology, a BS in Biomedical Sciences, and an MPH in Epidemiology, all from the University at Buffalo. She is currently an MD candidate at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, with anticipated graduation in 2027.
Parveen is passionate about advancing the intersection of public health and clinical medicine, particularly for vulnerable populations such as immigrants and refugees, Veterans, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Over the past decade, she has also worked to increase access to education for women at both local and international levels. She is deeply committed to this mission, grounded in the notion that educated women are catalysts for collective progress, driving self-empowerment as well as broader economic and societal development.
After graduation, Parveen plans to use her training and a patient-centered approach to improve the health and well-being of residents in Western New York. She envisions a career that bridges medicine, advocacy, and fruitful community partnerships.
