Thmwee Paw is originally from a Refugee Camp in Thailand that houses ethnic minorities from Burma who fled their home country due to an ongoing Civil War and genocide caused by the Burmese military. She belongs to the ethnic group called K’Nyaw (Karen) who are from the Karen State “Kawthoolei” located in Myanmar formally known as Burma. She serves as a board member for a non-profit organization called Karen Society of Buffalo where she is involved with the organization’s operations. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in finance from Canisius College in May 2023 she will be furthering her education by enrolling in the MBA program. She does not know what field to pursue but she hopes the MBA will open more doors and opportunities for her to explore.
